This is 4

Happy Birthday Kira

Today my sweet, sassy, stubborn and silly baby girl turns four.  Four...not quite a toddler, not yet a big kid, but most certainly no longer a baby.  Where does the time go?  Today I had my first parent/teacher conference for my girl.  I was pleasantly surprised to hear all the positives and can dos.  Being the second child, it appears we forget to give them the enrichment the first child gets.  However, the second child gets so much more...they get the built in best friend and teacher, that is the older sibling.

So who is Kira now?  She is a dynamic personality packed into a peanut of a shell.  Kira is just now 27lbs and 31 in, which I am sure Nathan surpassed well before turning 3.  But Kira has many qualities that her older brother doesn't possess.  She is funny!  I mean this girl has a sense of humor that is unlike most kids her age.  She cracks jokes and laughs and boy is she witty.  Kira is the girly girl I never was.  She will spend hours putting on make up and painting her nails....um, excuse me you are just barely 4!  I don't think I cared about any of that stuff until 4 years ago when I had to become somewhat of a girl...:-).

Kira loves school.  She attends a very small preschool across the street from Nathan's school. She is one of 8 in her class and I had the pleasure of spending the day with her there today.  It is such a treasure to watch her in her element.  She loves her friends and vice versa.  They are so cute sitting around the table at lunch singing, "what does the fox say".  Love it!

Kira is also as stubborn as they come.  Not sure if she inherited it from me or from daddy...we are equally the same.  She is fiercely independent when the moment suits her, but is also content to curl up in my lap with her treasured blanket and thumb in her mouth (we are working on it) much like Linus of the Peanuts.

I feel so very lucky to have the pleasure of raising this girl.  It isn't always easy and I fear it will be a roller coaster up until she moves out, but I'd be lying if I said I am not looking forward to it.  I know it won't be long because the first 4 years passed by so quickly.

Happy Birthday to the greatest little girl a mom could ask for !
