Fam Trip to Colorado

We took a short little weekend trip to the mountains in CO since I was already there for work. It made it that much easier to make it happen. Nathan traveled like a champ both on the flight there and back. Met up with The Zarlengo and Kennell families for a great weekend of drinking, relaxing and fishing. We stayed in a beautiful cabin, saw some sites, and had great food at the neighboring town of Nederland. Nathan and Vince (Andy and Tracey's son) played with trains and tractors all weekend, while Jackson (Todd and Christa's son) hung out watching them. Jackson is the most mellow baby we have ever seen. I (Brian) love Colorado and could easily live there if it had an ocean. Great times with great company. I hope we can do it again sometime.

I hear the train a'comin', it's rolling round the bend...

Nathan loves, loves, loves trains. So with Grandma Lois and Grandpa Larry down for a visit, we decided to take him to the Model Railroad Museum in Balboa Park. Like predicted, he loved it. He enjoyed watching the trains go through tunnels, playing the toy train tables and pushing the buttons to make the model trains go. It was fun to watch him enjoying himself so much.

1.5 years!!!

Nathan is a year and half old! He is growing by leaps and bounds in every way. He is starting to talk in short sentences and seems to be picking things up daily. Some of the fun things he is doing include trying to sing songs. He sings along to the ABC's, Twinkle Twinkle and Happy Birthday. He even sings a few words from mommy and daddy's music from the Ipod. Nathan seems to being picking up letters of the alphabet daily. He points out the letters he knows in signs on the road, in books and pretty much anywhere you see letters. He continues to show interest in his books. Book is often the first he says when he wakes up in the morning. Trucks and cars also continue to be big hits at our house. The beach, pool and water in general are also still big hits. Nathan is also becoming quite the cuddler. He loves to give big hugs and "skeezes". Nathan has also showed some interest when Brian or I go to the bathroom and can sometimes tell us when he is going. We bought him his own potty to start exploring, but so far he thinks it is just a place to read books like daddy. Each month just becomes more and more fun. I can't believe how fast he is growing. We are really looking forward to Halloween and Christmas this year.

Great Morning at the Beach

Yesterday we took Nathan to South Mission beach for some family time at the beach. Nathan and mommy enjoyed some time building castles and playing with buckets and shovels. Nathan made friends with some of the local surfers and they got a kick out of seeing him in his little wetsuit. After daddy was done surfing he and Nathan spent some time playing on the boogie board. Nathan seemed to really enjoy the water until he went under. Still, he continued to splash around with mommy and daddy. Daddy and Nathan really seemed to enjoy spending time in the ocean together.

Mexico Labor Day 2008

Another weekend at the river. We drove down Sat through pouring rain and had to mud bog the 4Runner to get into camp. It was by far the most water we've seen down there. Due to the mud, it was a boatless weekend but it was still a lot of fun. Nathan is getting more and more comfortable in the water and is standing up on the boogie board and likes it when daddy flips him, or "fips" as he says. Fun weekend and the weather was sticky, but comfortable. Check out the mean clouds!
