If Everybody Had an Ocean Across the USA...then they could do this!

We headed up to San Onofre yesterday for some sun, surf and fun with friends. It was another gorgeous day with warm weather, warm water and a happy go lucky toddler. Nathan enjoyed playing with Teri and her mom, digging in the sand and pointing out the ocean and waves. Couldn't have asked for a better day to end my summer break on.

Life with Kids and Animals

Being the parents of a toddler and puppy has been hard on our condo. Our carpets have bared the brunt of some heavy traffic, puppy potty accidents and various spills and spots. Our intention was never to live here five years after moving in, but thanks to the economy and housing market here we continue to live. So when GWB decided to spark the economy with his stimulus package, we decided to make some changes to our living environment. Project number one is now done. We had our carpets torn out and beautiful laminate flooring installed. We chose laminate because it can withstand the damage that is inevitable with Nathan and Milo. So yea, take a look. Doesn't it look much better?

Family Time

This weekend has been all about our little family. We started out Friday night with one of our impromptu BBQ's at Mission Beach. Nathan and Brian skateboarded a bit, but mostly we just hung out. Saturday after nap, we headed up to Torrey Pines for a little hiking. Nathan enjoyed his new metal framed backpack, but Brian's back could only withstand so much lugging 25lbs of kid and a few pounds of backpack. The weather was great. We headed home to grill and hang out. Then this morning we loaded up the 4Runner and spent the morning at La Jolla Shores. We took turns surfing and then Nathan even "surfed" (Brian holding him, me holding the board). He enjoyed splashing around in the "abes" (waves) with us. All in all we had a great time enjoying our city this weekend.

Happy "DEEDEE" Mommy

Today marks two milestones. I turned 32 and as Brian so lovingly puts it am officially "old" and Nathan is 17 months....has it really almost been a half a year since he turned 1? I celebrated my birthday with the annual trip to La Costa Spa with my mom and "A Bonnie" (as spoken by Nathan), Julie, Lona and this year we were joined by Andrea, Becky and Tracee (who was also celebrating a birthday). While my mom and Aunt Bonnie were visiting we also took a trip the Night Time Zoo at the SD Zoo. Evening, we discovered is a great time to go to the zoo. There were hardly any crowds and the animals that we visited were awake and active. Today I was treated to a great breakfast by Brian and then after attending a baby shower came home to a great home-cooked meal and nice bottle of wine. A nice little family dinner.

Life in toddlerhood continues to be fun. Nathan just seems to develop by leaps and bounds week by week. He continues to talk up a storm adding new words every day. He is our own little Myna Bird. Nathan continues to enjoy trips to park, walks at the bay with Danielle, zoo visits, swimming and has a new obsession with his cars. He plays with cars constantly and then must have two cars in his hand while sitting in his carseat. I guess he is what you would call "all boy". Unfortunately, I only have two more weeks off and next week I have dedicated myself to a course at SDSU, which means I really only have one more week off until November.

Children's Museum

Today Nathan and I were joined by our friend Danielle on a trip to the San Diego Children's Museum. Nathan had a great time. This is really a great place for kiddo's with an imagination. The architecture is pretty amazing too. Nathan enjoyed playing with clay, running around in the rain house, dancing in life size Ipod with disco ball inside, rock climbing, and bouncing around in the mattress room. There is stuff for kids of all ages there. Nathan is now crashed out from all of his hard play. Maybe I should nap too.
