Florence Lake 2008

We are home from our semi-annual Ceja family camping trip. I say semi-annual because as much as we would like, some years we just can't make it happen. We have been 6 of the last 9 years. Anyway this year we stayed at Jackass (my 6-year old nephew got a kick out of this) Meadows campground at Florence Lake in the Western Sierra's. We did some hiking, swimming in the cold creeks and lake, fishing and just overall relaxing. Nathan had a great time with Aanon (Aaron) Anrere (Annemarie) and Augie, my brother kids and also with Gabby and Angel, my cousins daughters. Milo enjoyed running around with Chewy, Albert and BD, but not so much with Micky, my brother's dog. Overall, it was a great trip. We did have to adjust our sleeping arrangements to make room for Nathan so that we could all get a comfortable nights sleep (is that possible in a tent?). However, once we got it all straightened out, the trip was much smoother. We look forward to next year. Hoping we can now make it more annual.

Fishes in the Ocean, Fishes in the Sea

Nathan has been taking swimming lessons at the Wavehouse now for a year. We started last July at 4 months as a fun way to get him acquainted with the water. He has had some of the same kids in his class through the whole year and seems to really enjoy it. Nathan now knows how to walk along the edge of pool using his hands and can pull himself out if the need arises. He goes under, paddles occasionally floats on his back. About a month ago a surf photographer who works at the Wavehouse and is trying to grow his business came to take pics of the class. Here are a few of my favorites.

Skateboarding

We took Nathan to the skatepark to tow him around on his board and then have him watch Daddy and Fish, or "Ishish" as Nathan likes to call him. He loves riding his skateboard or "Kunten" (not sure where that word came from) so he had a good time. He would yell our names as Fish and I would ride around the bowl in the skatepark.

16-month updates

We've been MIA for a bit. The past few weeks have been busy, but we haven't been really good about taking pictures. Nathan is 16 months now. He is growing so quickly. We went in for his 16-month check up. He weighs 25 lbs even (60th percentile), is 31.5 inches (50th percentile) and his head is 19 inches (50th percentile). It seems his growth is slowing a bit, but he still continues to be healthy. Over the past few weeks, we have been to the river twice, to the zoo and celebrated the fourth. Nathan enjoyed watching the "siracrakas" (firecrackers) from Geoff and Lara's rooftop deck. He was really focused on them for a bit. He loves to go for walks at night with Milo. When we are out on our walks he often spots the airplanes flying and will say "airpane, bye byes". So fun. Just tonight he went down a couple stairs in our complex without holding onto anything. It seems there is something new everyday. We are headed to the Western Sierra's next weekend for a camping trip with the Ceja's. Stay tuned for pictures.
