Took Nathan to the Park

Took Nathan to the park and enjoyed the swing. He was tired though, so he was kind of in a daze after we took him out of the swing. Looks like something we'll be making it a habit of, since there is stuff to play on, other kids, and dogs. Nathan loves screaming at animals!

Feeling Better

This weekend Nathan is much better. He hasn't had a fever in two days and is back to his happy self, plus one of his top theeth has barely cut through, which must have also been contributing to everything. This week when he has been in a good mood, we have been setting him on all fours to test his strength. He is able to hold himself up pretty good now, but has a more dfificult time pushing up on his own. I know I am going to curse myself when he starts crawling....

Being Sick Sucks...for all of us!

So we got a call from daycare on Wednesday that Nathan had a fever of 103. We took him into after hours pediatrics and they said he seemed fine. They suggested giving him Tylenol and Motrin on a rotating schedule. He went down fine Wednesday night and then woke up Thursday with a fever of 100. He spent the day with grandma and grandpa and seemed fine. Nathan went down again for bed with no problems, but woke up at 5:30am crying, which he never does. Again he had a fever. So off to the dr we went again. A traumatic blood draw and urin sample later revealed that Nathan is fighting some virus. He is resting now, but let me tell you, holding your baby down for a blood draw is NO FUN!!! Hopefully he will be back to his normal self really soon.

6-month check up and Weekend Pictures

Nathan had his six-month check up today. He weighed in at 17lbs 4oz (edited from 18 because the student nurse didn't read the scale right and when we went to after hours for a fever two days later, I didn't belive he lost weight in two days, so I am trusting the after hours nurse) and lies in the 75th percentile. He is 27 inches long and is also in the 75th percentile. It is just about time for him to go to his big boy carseat...oh joy now we have to buy 2. His head circumfrence is 17 inches and is in the 50th percentile, but you wouldn't know that his head is smaller than the rest of him because of those cheeks. Nathan took the 4 shots like a champ, only fussing for a few seconds. Dr. gave us the go ahead to give him Motrin this time instead of Tylenol. He seems fine now, but base on the last two check ups, he tends to get fussy a few hours later.

Nathan had a great visit with his grandma and grandpa from Fresno this past weekend. Because grandma's broken ankle was healing we didn't do too much, but we did enjoy a little time outside and walked around Mission Bay. Here are a couple of pictures of Nathan with his grandparents.

6 months old

Where does the time go? 6-months ago today Nathan was born. Here he is on his birthdate and today. It is hard to believe how much he has changed in six short months. It is also hard to believe how much we have changed and grown as parents. Nathan has done so many things in the first half of the first year of his life and each day is a surprise. Just today we noticed that he will reach for object when he is sitting, he can pick things up with one hand and is working on grabbing things with just his thumb and index finger. He is getting closer to crawling everyday and rolls his way to an object he wants. I am sure that the next six months will bring about many more exciting changes.
