Live, Breathe, and Read Surf

It's not enought that we expose him to the beach all the time but we have a book on "Surf Tricks" that we read to Nathan. Melissa was reading the book to him and as you can see, he was very attentive!

Teeth and other fun stuff

So as you see we had a wonderful trip to Big Sur. During our trip, Nathan cut his first tooth (bottom left). We were sitting at breakfast and he was chomping away at my hand when I felt something that was not gummy and I took a look. Sure enough there was the long awaited white spot. The 4-6 month growth spurt has been so fun to watch and I am glad to have a job that allowed me to spend these past couple of weeks with him. Nathan has become so much stronger, sitting for several minutes at a time, scooting around and munching on his toes. Can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings about.

Wedding

We went to a wedding in Big Sur this weekend and had a great time. We camped at Andrew Molera State Park the first night and Nate was very good! It was great to hang out with old friends again. We hung out in a driftwood hut while people banged on several forms of percussion, otherwise known as a drum circle. It was pretty darn cool. The beach at the park is amazing as you can tell from the photos. We went to the rehearsal dinner at Pfieffer Big Sur State park and had a nice dinner surrounded by trees. The wedding was at the same place, then the reception at the Henry Miller Library, which provided a great outdoor setting for a wedding event. Nathan was very good the whole weekend but at this age was difficult at times... especially with 8 hours in the car each way!

Nice Beach Day

We had a nice day at the beach today. Luara met us down early and got to get in the water. Water was over 70 and felt great. Surf sucked but hey, it's August, what can you do?

Grammy and Grampy came back from their trip and met us down there as well. As you can see from the pics, Kaitlin took a little interest in getting in the water so I pushed her into a few waves. She was pretty stoked.

Melissa's Birthday at Stone Brewery

We went to Stone for Melissa's birthday, took a tour of the brewery, sampled a few fine beers and had a nice dinner with family and friends. Nathan liked the pilsner glass as you can see.

Nathan-5 months, Mommy-31 years

Today Nathan is five months old and mommy turned 31! How crazy is it that last year on this day we got our first glimpse of Nathan via Ultrasound and today his 5 months old. What a difference a year makes. He is a very vocal, happy little guy. Nathan has started expressing himself with the funniest happy squeals. These past few weeks have brought about some developmental changes in Nathan. He is rolling over from back to front whenever you lay him down. He has no interest in going back to his back now that he has discovered he can scoot. He has also discovered that it is much more comfortable to sleep on his stomach. Nathan is really enjoying his swimming lessons and cracks up the mommies in the class with his happy screams and "kicks and paddles". Nathan has tried cereal a few times this week and likes it sometimes and others seems to have little interest. In a few weeks we will move on to veggies, so stay tuned for some interesting pictures.

Pool Day at the Condo

The Savages, McDaniels, Williams' and the Garcias came over for to swim with Melissa and Nate. Looks like they had fun at the pool. The Garcias only managed to make two big spills on the carpet, sticky stuff on the kitchen floor, and tonic water all over the walls. Not bad!

Nathan's First Try at Solid Food

Nathan's first try at rice cereal. He seemed to enjoy it.

Taking advantage of what home has to offer

We decided to load up some food, drinks and the barbque and head down to Fiesta Island for the sunset... well the cloudset actually! Pretty nice considering it's less than 10 minutes from home. We're definitely going to have to do it again. Nathan fell asleep on the blanket and we enjoyed some good food and drinks.

Aunt Bonnie's Visit

Thanks to Mom and Dad, Bill and Becky, we were able to take Anut Bonnie to the game. We took the trolley from Fashion Valley which was kind of cool. We had great seats (had no idea!) and got to watch Barry Bonds go for the record tie. Nathan was ok until people started to boo or scream really loud (thanks Barry Bonds). Anyway I promised Grammy a pic of him in Padres clothes...

Today, we took Bonnie to Balboa park since she hasn't been. We walked around a good portion of the park and went to the museum of photographic arts. They had an Ansel Adams exhibit so that was cool.
