Christmas Eve

We headed up to Fresno to celebrate Nathan's first Christmas. Nathan saw his grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. We ate lots of food and feel stuffed even a couple days later. Nathan even enjoyed some turkey, yams and mashed potatos with the grown ups. Santa made a stop at my parents house on his way around the world. We were suprised that Nathan laughed and pulled his beard, as we were sure it would be the opposite. He sung Christmas songs with his cousins and opened presents with all of them. It was a great first Christmas with our boy.

Early Christmas with the Davies/Garcia Family

We had an early Christmas at our house this year since we were heading up to Fresno. The Senior Davies and the Garcias came over for dinner and a gift exchange. This was just a start of the many toys Nathan got for Christmas!

How Much He's Grown... in One Surf Season

First pic is of us watching the second contest at Bells, and one from today during the last contest of the year. This is my version of being a sports fan.

Getting Closer to Walking

Nathan took to the walker toy at Grammy and Grampy's pretty well! He's already mobile so he might as well be walking!

Desert Trip

Enjoyed the second trip to the desert for the season. Crowds were minimal due to the weather and the sand was the wettest I've ever seen it. Nathan is beginning to enjoy the sounds of a dirtbike and he enjoyed his first little quad ride as you can see below. Next trip will be in Jan.

Nine-Months Old

Nahtan is nine months old as of yesterday. We had our 9-month well baby check today. Nathan is still a big boy!!! 28 inches (70th percentile), 21lbs (70th percentile) and 17.75 inch head circumfrence (50th percentile). He got his third HEP B shot today and 1 dose of the flu vaccine. He did his little cry and then was fine.

Nine months is such a fun age, but he is starting show his independence. Nathan is into everything and he does not like to be told no. He is starting to get brave when he is holding onto something and take his hands off. He is cruising all over while holding onto furniture. He loves feeding himself any and everything. He does really well with his pincer grasp, too.

Christmas Card Photos

Took Nathan down to the Cliffs for his Christmas card pics. This spot was only a few yards away from where I proposed to Melissa.

8-Months old!

So I am a day early, but Nathan is 8-months old tomorrow! I cannot belive that in four months Brian and I will parents of a toddler!!!! It seems unreal that 8-months have gone by. Nathan is doing so much these days. He greets us in the morning standing up in his crib. He has mastered crawling and pulls himself up on everything. I think he'll be cruising soon. Nathan loves feeding himself cheerios, banannas and bread. We will start giving him more finger foods since he tries to take the spoon and feed himself these days. He started swimming lessons again this month and has the teacher all to himself. He still loves the water!!!! On our camping trip last weekend, he was SO EXCITED by all the surfers out in the water. That makes his daddy proud. Here are a few pictures from our camping trip last weekend.

Halloween at Warner Springs

We escaped from the smoke for a weekend in Warner Springs with the family. Weather was perfect, we sat in the hot springs several times a day, and had good food and beer. What more can you ask for? Nathan dressed up like a monkey but wasn't feeling too well and slept through most of the tricker treating! Looks like this will be an annual trip for us.

Cabin Fever

Since the air quality is so bad here in San Diego, we have been cooped up in our little condo since Tuesday. When you are almost 8 months and on the move, it is easy to get yourself into trouble. Nathan proved he is a Davies/Ceja by heading straight for the wine. At least he chose a good bottle!

Pumpkin Patch

Today we are hanging close to home due to the air quality and Nathan being pretty hoarse and congested. Hard to believe that 4 years to the day we are watching parts of our county burn. Luckily our friends in mandatory evacuation areas all seem to be doing fine, but it is still very sad. Our school district decided to do the smart thing and close down today, after the mess yesterday. We had 10 teachers out and no coverage, which I assume was how it was at all schools. I have to say though that our staff was awesome at dealing with parents, covering classes and just pulling together to help those who were evacuated.

Onto more happy things. We took Nathan to the Cobb Ranch Pumpkin Patch in Fresno this past weekend. It was so windy, but we managed to get a few cute pictures.

Oh and Nathan is now officially mobile. He is all over the place. As I type, Brian is at Home Depot buying baby proofing stuff. This morning when I went to get him out of the crib, he was sitting up (another first), so it is time to lower the crib!
